"Bird's Nest" to Sell Naming Right

A Chinese businessman who operates the stadium deals told a Shanghai Newspaper about their plan--they have launched the action to sell the naming right of the famous Beijing Olympic National Stadium, known as the "Bird's Nest". "The naming right must be sold, but now the details were discussed within the company ", he said.

The Chinese newspaper reported that the naming right will be sold after the Olympic Games end, but the sources didn't disclose the interested buyers. According to the Ben Sturner, the Chief Executive of New York-based Leverage Agency in charge of the business of "Bird's Nest" and another famous Olympic swimming stadium "Water Cube", six companies are competing the naming right of the former, the winner of them will get the right to add their name in front of the stadium. But after this news came out, there appeared some disputes in China.

Mr. Ben said the "Bird's Nest" is the most valuable real estate in the world now in view of two facts--its's trademark status as the main stadium of Beijing Olympic and the vigorous development of sports industry in China.

He didn't revealed the information about potential buyers while he said the senior managers of these six companies took part in the marketing and advertising campaign and watched several important competitions during the Olympic Games with his guide. But some media guessed these possible buyers include the Olympic sponsors such as Lenovo Group, Adidas and Coca-Cola etc.

A report from Wall Street Journal said the naming right of the "Bird's Nest" for 30 year values up to several hundred million dollars, and the final result will be announced in next months.

Furthermore, the report from Shanghai newspaper said the naming right of the other the Olympic Stadiums also will be sold besides "Bird's Nest", including the "Water Cube" and "Wu-ke-song Gymnasium".
