Report: Myanmar to reject aid from US warships
Posted 21 May 2008 @ 09:34 am HKT
YANGON, Myanmar - Myanmar's state media says that the country will not accept relief supplies for cyclone victims carried by U.S. warships and military helicopters.
The New Light of Myanmar newspaper said Wednesday said that such assistance would come "with strings attached." But it added that other U.S. aid was welcome.
The United States, as well as France, have naval vessels off the Myanmar coast prepared to airlift and land supplies for survivors of Cyclone Nargis.
