Henry Tang woos Italian investors
Chief Secretary for Administration Henry Tang has called on Italian business leaders to consider business opportunities in Hong Kong and expand bilateral economic collaboration with the city.
Speaking at a business luncheon organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in Milan May 9, Mr Tang promoted Hong Kong's business-friendly environment and its unique role in helping foreign companies enter the Mainland market.
He met with Lombardi Regional Government Under Secretary for International Relations Roberto Ronza.
"There is a lot we can learn from Italy in preserving historical buildings and promoting arts and cultural activities. The Lombardi Government is immensely interested in the West Kowloon Cultural District project," Mr Tang said.
"They are keen to explore opportunities for bilateral exchange with Hong Kong in both performing and visual arts. They also see Hong Kong as the launch pad in Asia to showcase Italy's fine craftsmanship."
On May 10 Mr Tang visited the Hong Kong Pavilion at the International Optics, Optometry & Ophthalmology Exhibition at MIDO fairground. He also called on Chinese Consul-General in Milan Zhang Limin.
Mr Tang will leave for Paris on May 11.
